Balance is not a soft word
Balance is not a soft word. It's a law of nature.
Look at any relationship. Look at any job. The question is always the same: what are you putting in, and what are you getting back? Energy, salary, growth, love, recognition. The mix is different for everyone, and that's fine.
There is no universal ratio to judge anyone by, but one rule never bends: input and output must find balance. The moment they don't, something in the system pushes back.
We're watching this happen on a planetary scale right now. For roughly 300 million years, the earth stored energy as fossil fuels, and in the last hundred years, we've released that stored energy back into the atmosphere at a pace nature never designed for.
More energy in the system means the system seeks balance, and it finds it through hotter days, heavier rain, longer droughts, stronger storms.
The earth isn't punishing us. It's doing what every system does when pushed out of balance: it adjusts, sometimes violently, until equilibrium returns.
Our relationships and our careers work the exact same way. Pour energy in without anything coming back, and eventually something breaks: a relationship, your health, your drive. Imbalance always finds a way to surface.
So check your balance sheet. Not just the financial one. The energy one.
