Every time has its own good old days
Lately these AI videos about the eighties keep appearing in my feed. Every time they do, I feel it. They pull me straight back to my teenage years when everything felt wide open and possible. The first time falling in love, the surprise of a first kiss, music that filled every room, long evenings with friends, and the feeling that the whole world was waiting just beyond the horizon.
Those years were full of discovery and uncertainty. Every day brought something new. The eighties were that for me, just as the nineties or the 2000s were for someone else, the sixties for our parents.
When people say "in our time everything was better," it simply is not true. We have nothing to compare it to, being a teenager in another era. Every generation has its own magic and its own storms, its own first times and its own lessons. Being young, wherever and whenever you are, always means discovery, uncertainty, and feeling everything for the first time.
When you are young, life throws new experiences at you constantly. Later, when you are deep into work and career, fewer things arrive on their own. You have already seen and done so much. Some things become easier. Others lose their edge.
The real trick is to keep moving. To keep your body and your mind in motion. To stay curious and open to new ideas and new challenges.
Growth and ongoing development belong to every age. If you ever think you have done it all, forget it. You have not even touched one percent of what life can offer.
That is what makes each era special. Not the decade itself, but the way youth lets us feel life so fully. Keep that spirit alive, no matter your age.
The goal is to die young... as late as possible.
